"When I resigned from ESPN 13 and a half years ago, I was literally given 30 seconds to say goodbye at the very end of my last edition of "Sports Center." As God is my witness, in the commercial break just before the emotional moment, the producer got into my earpiece and he said, `uh, can you cut it down to 15 seconds, so we can get in this tennis result from Stuttgart? So I'm grateful that I have a little more time to sign off here."

Between this and the shell-shocked look Olbermann had last night, it seems clear that he may have been abruptly informed that he was history, perhaps even during last night's show. That would also square with the experience of Josh Marshall, who was actually on Olbermann last night and had no sense that anything was amiss.

We already know that MSNBC president Phil Griffin had been gunning for Olbermann for some time now. MSNBC was reportedly close to firing Olbermann on several occasions. Recall that during the ridiculous flap over Olbermann's political donations, in which he responded to his suspension with a show of public defiance, Griffin flatly told Olbermann's representative: "We are at war."

Soon enough we'll have a clearer sense of why this happened, and we can deal with it then. But for now, let's thank Olbermann for all his hard work. He's rich, popular and has a huge following that's likely to follow him to his next endeavor. He'll be just fine.

What of Olbermann's legacy? There's a great deal of crowing on the right about Olbermann's apparent ouster. But let's be clear on what he accomplished: He helped clear a huge space on the airwaves for "unapologetic liberalism," as Steve Benen puts it, when it remained anything but certain that such a space could be created with any measure of success.

The unexpected popularity of Olbermann's show early on cleared the way for MSNBC to stack its nighttime lineup with pugnacious lefty hosts. Indeed, it was Olbermann who invited Rachel Maddow on repeatedly as a guest, raising her profile to the point where she got her own show. Olbermann, followed by Maddow, proved in the face of enormous skepticism that there's a huge audience out there for real liberal talk-show hosts to adopt the sort of take-no-prisoners approach once monopolized by the right. Only they accomplished this without descending into the crackpot conspiracy mongering and all-around ugliness of Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck.

Indeed, there's already talk that CNN might be interested in picking up Olbermann. While that seems unlikely, given CNN's more staid air, the mere fact that it's being discussed at all shows how much he helped change the landscape.

"NBC executives said one term of his settlement would keep him from moving to another network for an extended period of time."

So maybe settlement talks had been going on for some time, though that doesn't necessarily mean Olbermann wasn't effectively pushed out. As noted above, we know MSNBC president Phil Griffin had been gunning for him for some time. And Olbermann seemed to want to leave the impression last night that he'd been abruptly axed. I for one would be relieved to hear that the decision was mutual.

Keith Olbermann, one of the best known cable news personalities on either side of the political spectrum, was abruptly fired yesterday by MSNBC.

Olbermann, in the middle of a four-year $30 million deal set to last until 2012, announced on last night's edition of Countdown that it was his last.

The dismissal is said to be at least indirectly related to Comcast's acquiring of NBC and the parent company's distaste for his defiance and attitude.

Sources said network brass basically paid the pundit to scram by working out an agreement in which he would get lost and continue to be paid.

He will have to stay off the air at least until fall as a result.

MSNBC issued a vague, unemotional statement saying it ended its contract with Olbermann, who hosted the top rated show on the network.

The statement read in part, "MSNBC thanks Keith for his integral role in MSNBC's success and we wish him well in his future endeavors." Nice.

Olbermann was suspended briefly a few months ago in light of some political donations the host made, but no one saw this swift exit coming.

Executives have said tensions between Olbermann and the network, which were palpable to begin with, have been running high since then.

Neither side has offered a formal explanation, but the network said 10 p.m. host Lawrence O'Donnell would move into Keith's slot Monday.

Eric Schmidt will step down from his role as Google's CEO in April and be replaced by co-founder Larry Page.
Schmidt, Page and Brin have long run Google as a trio, an approach they spelled out in an "owner's manual" included in the company's 2004 IPO filing.
"We run Google as a triumvirate," Page and Brin wrote.
Schmidt said he doesn't anticipate any material change in strategy. Page, Google's founding CEO, served as chief executive from 1998 to 2001. He will once again take charge of the company's day-to-day operations, and he will also be in charge of Google's product development and technology strategy. Brin, Google's other co-founder, will continue to work on Google's new projects, but will no longer serve as a company president.

About Schmidt's tenure, Page said Google's results over the past decade "speak for themselves."

Setelah beberapa hari ini gw mengotak atik ini blog, akhirnya gw menemukan hal mendasar yang membuat orang tidak tertarik mengunjungi blog gw. Ternyata salah satu penyebabnya adalah pada template blog gw yang kelihatan asal-asalan bin amburadul, kemudian setelah bertanya ama abang Gog (Google) ditemukanlah beberapa solusi untuk memperbaiki tampilan blog gw.

Sebenarnya, dalam pencarian ini gw menemukan beberapa aplikasi untuk mengedit template ini blog.
Tapi ternyata yang bikin sreg dihati itu sendiri rupanya cuma Dreamweaver, setelah utak-atik sana sini akhirnya gw menemukan intinya, intinya gw masih belum bisa dan berpengalaman cara menggunakan ini software.

Autocad biasanya dipakai oleh para desain grafis bangunan kayak arsitek. biasanya sih dipakai buat ngebangun kota, bangunan, dan juga ruangan (maaf bila kurang jelas)

Akhirnya setelah lama gak muncul dan update di blog, rasa kangen timbul kembali.
mau ngisi artikel, tapi bingung mau nulis apa dan nyari bahan apa, waduh kalo dipikir-pikir makin bingung aja plus ruwet jadinya. ya udah deh gw mau mencoba mengulas sedikit masalah dunia cyber ato populer kita sebut internet ( kebalik gak ya???).
Dunia internet ini memang beragam banget isinya, mulai dari tulisan-tulisan yang isinya artikel, cerita ampe skripsi (kalo ada ya...), lagu ( bajakan ama yang legal), film (sama aja deh kaya lagu) dan lain-lain.
Gw aja sering termenung di depan komputer sambil surfing, mulai dari situs internet yang jelas ampe yang kaga jelas asal-usulnya... memang sih dunia internet itu bebas banget, malah sebebas-bebasnya...
gak bisa dibandingin deh ama dunia nyata..
Tetapi itu dia permasalahannya, dunia internet ini juga biasanya bisa menjadi dunia kejahatan, carding misalnya, whoa kenyataanya indonesiaku tercinta ini akhirnya mendapat cap blacklish dari negara-negara lain...

Sekitar 1 minggu ini saya mulai belajar forex dengan gigihnya, meskipun tahu apa resiko-resiko dalam bermain forex saya tetap pada pendirian semula yaitu belajar forex. Ternyata belajar bermain forex tidak seperti yang say pikirkan, pertama-tama saya pikir bermain forex itu mudah, ternyata berkebalikan sekali dengan perkataan saya . Bermain forex itu memerlukan analisis tersendiri, ada yang disebut dengan "Analisis Fundamental" dan ada yang disebut dengan :Analisis Teknikal". Analisis Fundamental adalah analisis mengenai kejadian-kejadian yang terjadi di luar, meliputi berita pasar maupun politik. Sedangkan Analisis Teknikal adalah analisis yang dikembangkan untuk mengikuti dan mencoba mengetahui arah pergerakan dengan berbagai indikator dan robot-robot indikator.

Awalnya bermain forex saya berhasil memenangkan beberapa poin sehingga apabila ditotalkan penghasilannya adalah sekitar 1 sampai 1,5 dollar, kecilkan tetapi masih lumayan bagi seorang pemula. tetapi beberapa hri ini saya terus-menerus kalah, mau tidak mau saya harus berhenti sementara untuk mempelajari lebih dalam mengenai forex. Setelah saya membeli kartu Perdana Im2 broom bastis (250 rb, gila...),saya mulai mencoba memasangkan pada modem sierra compas U885. Pertamakali memasangkannya saya sempat bingung juga, kok ga bisa 3G ya....

setelah itu saya coba tanya aja ama mbah Google, akhirnya dapat juga gimana cara nyeting nya.

Beberapadari kita tentu memiliki kebiasaan untuk bekerja berlama-lama di depanmonitor PC, entah untuk bekerja atau melakukan hal lain seperti bermaingame dan browsing. Alhasil efek mata lelah dan kepala pening pun takdapat dihindari.

Walau banyak yang menganggap fakta ini tidak sepenuhnya benar, namunkenyataannya hal ini tetap mempengaruhi kesehatan mata kita. Efeknyaterkadang kita sedikit kesulitan untuk memfokuskan objek pandang, dansebagainya. Hal ini tentunya diakibatkan pancaran radiasi monitor yangterlalu lama saat kita bekerja.

berikut ini adalah beberapa tips menghindari mata lelah, saat berada di depan monitor:

1. Jaga jarak pandang dari monitor.

Berada terlalu dekat dengan monitor memang sedikit membahayakan bagimata kita. Seharusnya kita menjaga jarak pandang ke monitor kita denganbaik. Jarak yang disarankan adalah sekitar 20-40 inchi (50-100cm) darimata.

Jika kita masih kesulitan membaca padahal monitor sudah berada padajarak 20 inchi, cobalah untuk memperbesar font kita hingga kita merasanyaman.

2. Singkirkan CRT, Beralih ke LCD

Monitor tabung (CRT) memang memberi efek yang lebih buruk dibandingLCD, selain energi yang dibutuhkan juga lebih besar. Cobalah menggantimonitor CRT kita dengan LCD.

Namun harga monitor LCD memang lebih mahal dibanding CRT. Bagi kitayang masih menyeyangi monitor CRT, ada baiknya kita membeli filteranti-radiasi. ini adalah solusi untuk mengurangi rasa nyeri mata akibatduduk berlama-lama di depan monitor, namun dengan harga yang murah.

3. Atur monitor setting

Beberapa monitor yang ada sekarang banyak menyediakan pre-set displaymode, untuk memudahkan pengguna mengganti setting layar mereka. Pre-setsetting tersebut memberi level brightnes yang berbeda, untukmenyesuaikan kondisi penggunaan monitor. Adakalanya manfaatkan haltersebut.

Walau hal ini membutuhkan biaya yang relatif lebih mahal, namun adabaiknya saat memiliki cukup uang kita membeli kacamata anti-radiasi.Selain bisa dibawa kemanapun kita bekerja, kacamata ini tak hanyaberguna saat kita bekerja di depan monitor, namuna juga melindungi matadari cahaya lampu mobil, radiasi TV, dan sebagainya.

William Safire

Born to a Jewishfamily called Safir, William later added the "e" for pronunciationreasons, though some of his relatives continue to use the originalspelling. Safire graduated from the Bronx High School of Science, a specialized public high school in New York City. He attended Syracuse Universitybut dropped out after having attended only two years. He would deliverthe commencement address at Syracuse in 1978 and 1990 and became atrustee of the university.

He was a public relations executive from 1955 to 1960. Previously, he had been a radio and television producer and a United States Army correspondent. He worked as a publicist for a homebuilder who exhibited a model home at an American trade fair at Sokolniki Park in Moscow in 1959 - the one in which Richard Nixon and Nikita Khrushchev had their famous "Kitchen Debate". A widely circulated black & white picture of the event was photographed by Safire.Safire subsequently joined Nixon's campaign for the 1960 Presidentialcampaign, and again on the 1968 campaign. After Nixon's 1968 victorySafire served as a speechwriter for him and Spiro Agnew; he is well known for having created Agnew's famous term, "nattering nabobs of negativism".

Safire joined the New York Times as a political columnist in 1973. Soon after joining the Times,Safire learned that he had been the target of "national security"wiretaps authorized by Nixon, and, after noting that he had worked onlyon domestic matters, wrote with what he characterized as "restrainedfury" that he had not worked for Nixon through a difficult decade "tohave him - or some lizard-lidded paranoid acting without his approval -eavesdropping on my conversations."^[4]

In 1978, Safire won the Pulitzer Prize for commentary on Bert Lance's alleged budgetary irregularities.

Upon announcing the retirement of Safire's political column in 2005, Arthur Sulzberger Jr., publisher of The New York Times stated:

The New York Times without Bill Safire is all butunimaginable, Bill's provocative and insightful commentary has held ourreaders captive since he first graced our Op-EdPage in 1973. Reaching for his column became a critical and enjoyablepart of the day for our readers across the country and around theworld. Whether you agreed with him or not was never the point, hiswriting is delightful, informed and engaging.

Since 1995 Safire had served as a member of the Pulitzer Board. After ending his op-ed column, Safire became the full-time chief executive of the Dana Foundation where he was chairman from 2000. In 2006, Safire was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush.

Safire died from pancreatic cancer at a hospice in Rockville, Maryland on September 27, 2009, aged 79. He was survived by his wife Helene; their children Mark and Annabel, and a granddaughter.

Safire described himself as a "libertarian conservative". A Washington Post story on the ending of his op-ed column quotes him on the subject:

I'm willing to zap conservatives when they do things that are not libertarian. [After the 9/11 attacks,] I was the first to really go after George W. on his treatment of prisoners.

After voting for Bill Clinton in 1992, Safire became one of the leading critics of Clinton's administration. Hillary Clinton in particular was often the target of his ire. He caused controversy when he called her a "congenitalliar"; Hillary responded that she didn't feel offended for herself, butfor her mother's sake. According to the president's press secretary atthe time, Mike McCurry, "thepresident, if he were not the president, would have delivered a moreforceful response to that on the bridge of Mr. Safire's nose".

Safire was one of several voices who called for war with Iraq, andpredicted a "quick war", with Iraqis cheering their liberators. Manyreaders who followed his columns in The New York Times felt dismayed when he consistently brought up the point that an Iraqi intelligence agent met with Mohamed Atta, one of the 9/11 attackers, in Prague. This theory had been debunked by the CIA and other credible intelligence agencies. Safire insisted that the theory was true and used it to make a case for war against Iraq. Safire also wrote that "freed scientists" would lead coalition forces to "caches [of weapons of mass destruction] no inspectors could find". Safire never retracted his comments.

Safire was staunchly pro-Israel. He received the Guardian of Zion Award of Bar-Ilan University in 2005.
